5 Jewelry Staples You Should Have in Your Collection

Jewelry can be so much more than just an accessory, and with the right pieces, you can make a serious statement in any situation. Before you go out and spend your life savings on expensive jewelry, though, start with these five jewelry staples and build your collection from there.

1: Statement Rings

No matter what season or what the current fashion trends are, a beautiful ring will never go out of style. This doesn’t have to be an engagement or wedding ring either (although it could be, if you would like). Other options include cocktail rings with floral styles or gemstones in beautiful colors, from white or blue to orange or black—a black onyx is a classic style that you can pretty much pair with anything.

2: Multi-Length Earrings

This is sort of cheating for the list, because we are going to include three different earring styles under one section, but make sure that your earring selection includes varying lengths. Have some beautiful studs (such as diamonds or pearls), dangling earrings, and hoops.

Studs can be worn any time of the day or night to just about any occasion, although if you have large diamond studs those might be best reserved for special occasions. The dangly earrings can be worn on a night out on the town or to dress up your everyday work attire, and the hoops made of silver or gold, can go with everything.

3: Bangle Bracelets

A set of bangle bracelets can help you transform a daytime outfit into an evening outfit by simply slipping them on your wrist. If you’re planning to get this type of jewelry, choose a simply style that you can wear on its own or pair with other bracelets for a more colorful appearance.

4: A Great Watch

While the popularity of cell phones has replaced our traditional wristwatch as our primary method of telling time, that doesn’t mean you have to forego your watch entirely. Now it can be more of a style piece than a functional time-teller and can be catered to your style. You can choose from small, delicate watches to larger styles, and get one with embellishments on the face or band for added personalization.

5: A Pearl Necklace

Nothing says beauty and elegance quite like a pearl necklace, and if you don’t have one in your collection, it’s a must-add. This is a style that you will be able to wear for the rest of your life, regardless of where the trends in cheaper fashion jewelry go, so splurge on this piece to get a beautiful and high quality necklace. You can also pair it with earrings if you like for a full set of timeless elegance.
