The COVID-19 outbreak sweeping the world has impacted numerous individuals and areas, large and small, and our hearts go out to those most serious affected. And while it’s secondary to health and safety concerns, of course, those who had been planning certain types of romantic wedding proposals may have to change their plans due to virus-related cancellations.
At AAA Jewelers, we offer a wide range of engagement rings and other diamond jewelry to mark one of the most special events in your life. We’re also happy to provide expertise and tips to all our clients on numerous areas, from stones and diamond selection to areas like how to propose. With social distancing still a big theme for many, this two-part blog series will dig into several great ways individuals and couples have come up with to propose or celebrate their engagement without breaking quarantine or distancing protocols.
If you and your partner own a loving dog, cat or another tamed animal that’s a beloved part of the family, why not get them involved in the proposal? There are numerous themes here, whether it’s attaching the ring to a doc collar, proposing during a daily dog walk or some other method.
In cases where you have a well-trained dog, you might be able to make the experience even more special. Perhaps you train the dog to follow a specific new command to present the ring to your loved one, such as joining you in getting down on one knee (you’d certainly need a well-trained dog for this one!).
Sadly, as we noted above, the outbreak has forced cancellations of many planned trips and vacations – including for some who may have been planning to propose during such a trip. In these cases, while no one is happy about being forced to cancel a romantic getaway, you can use the opportunity to “spoil” what would have been a great surprise by replacing it with a different one. Find a fun, loving way to propose while also informing your partner of the event you had planned – if things work out, you might be able to re-plan it as a honeymoon later on.
You can’t bring your partner to your favorite romantic restaurant to propose, but that doesn’t mean you can’t utilize the space available to you. Spend a few hours on the day of the proposal redecorating an entire room in the home, with items like roses, candles and other romantic themes all in place. Go the extra mile to really show your partner how much you care. Do your best to keep this a secret up until the actual proposal itself using whatever means you can.
